Members of the Vijayapura Government Medical College Agitation Committee welcomed six of their leaders who were released on bail in Vijayapura on Wednesday.
The leaders were arrested after a protest was launched against a proposed public-private partnership model medical college (since withdrawn) in the city two weeks ago.
The leaders obtained bail on Tuesday and were released on Wednesday.
They are Sri Sangana Basava Swami of Hunshyal Math, Dalit ideologue Anil Hosmani, committee president Aravind Kulkarni, Bhagwan Reddy, Sidram Hallur and Bhogesh Solapur.
They were brought in a procession from the jail to Ambedkar Circle in the city.
