Extending support to Mysuru-based Skanray Technologies’ initiative to launch a regional airline – Skanjet Aviation – the Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has urged Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu to expedite the approval process for the venture.

In a letter to Mr Naidu, copies of which were made available to the media, MCCI President K. B. Lingaraju requested the Union Civil Aviation Minister to intervene in the matter for necessary regulatory clearances and policy support.

Expressing support for a ‘landmark initiative’ by local enterprise Skanray Technologies, a medical electronics company, which is poised to launch its regional airline Skanjet Aviation with Mysuru as its operational base, Mr Lingaraju said the proposed launch of Skanjet in April 2026, starting with three ATR-72 aircraft, ‘represents a significant private-sector commitment to the Prime Minister’s UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) vision’.

“As you are aware, Mysuru is rapidly evolving into a hub for education, IT, wellness tourism, and agrotech. Despite this potential, the city’s economic growth has often been bottlenecked by limited air connectivity,” lamented Mr Lingaraju.

“The MCCI believes that Skanjet’s proposed routes — connecting Mysuru directly to Hyderabad, Chennai, Goa, Kochi, Mangaluru, and Mumbai — will be a game-changer….”

The launch of the flights by the proposed airline will not only give a boost to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), but also provide industry-efficient travel for business leaders and technicians, and spur investment in Mysuru and Nanjangud belts, he added.

Tourism development

Direct air connectivity will unlock the immense tourism potential of the Mysuru-Kodagu circuit for high-value domestic and international travellers, he said.

The initiative is expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment opportunities for the local youth in the aviation and hospital sectors, the MCCI stated.

“We understand that Skanjet is currently in the process of seeking necessary statutory clearances and operating licences from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and your esteemed Ministry. Given the strategic importance of this project for the regional development of southern Karnataka, we earnestly request your kind intervention to expedite the approval process,” Mr Lingaraju said.

“The business community of Mysuru stands firmly behind this indigenous initiative. We are confident that with your visionary leadership and support, Skanjet will help transform Mysuru into a vital node in India’s aviation map,” the MCCI President said in the letter.
