Ahead of the possible elections to local bodies in the State, the BJP has chalked out various measures to galvanise its cadre including the plans to stage protests in four different cities against alleged failures of the government on various fronts.
Disclosing this at a press conference in Bengaluru on Tuesday, BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra said the party would begin the protest series on January 17 from Ballari where an agitation would be staged against the alleged failure of law and order situation in the State.
Alleging that there was rampant corruption in posting of police officials, he said this had resulted in a complete collapse of law and order situation which was visible in the death of a Congress worker at a clash in Ballari.
He alleged that taking advantage of the failure of law and order situation in the State, sand mafia had again raised its ugly head while anti-national forces too were active.
Drug mafia had spread its network in the State, he said, and announced that the party would stage a protest in Mysuru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s home district, against the alleged failure by the State government to crack a whip against drug network.
Similarly an agitation would be staged in Bagalkot against the “failure” by the government to respond to the problems of farmers while another protest would be staged in Hubballi against the “failure” to promptly release funds towards monthly instalments of Gruhalakshmi scheme to beneficiaries.
Taking exception to the government still not paying any compensation to the family of a Dalit woman who was killed in Uttara Kannada district, he said, “The Congress dispensation is least bothered about atrocities against Dalits. While a Dalit woman was killed, another Dalit woman was disrobed and assaulted by the police in Hubballi,” he alleged.
