Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut attacked Maharashtra government over rampant corruption, drug trafficking, and lawlessness in the state and said, “Maharashtra will now stand by Thackerays” during jointly organised public rally by Shiv Sena Thackeray faction and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in the Maharashtra’s Nashik district.

“Two big brothers of Maharashtra have come together and henceforth Maharashtra will follow them. If the condition in Maharashtra must be changed then we must start from the municipal corporation,” said MP Sanjay Raut, while addressing people in Nashik.

This is the second time that Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS office bearers came together for a political cause. Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray and their party workers came together on the issue of Marathi language, marking the first gathering in Maharashtra after Mumbai. MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar was also present at the rally and criticised the ruling alliance Mahayuti.

Highlighting the increased crime in Nashik, Mr. Raut said, “40 murders have happened in this city. One of the corporator has been on the run, who secretly goes to meet Girish Mahajan, if the state’s home minister and the guardian minister have no idea about this, then they are incapable of ruling the State. This has become Nashik’s character, and we must change. This rally is the beginning of that change.”

Mr. Raut alleged that the brutal murder of Rahul Dhotre was orchestrated by workers of Devendra Fadnavis and Girish Mahajan and mentioned the involvement of one of the BJP corporator, who remains absconding with the protection of senior political leaders. Raut warned that continued government inaction could push Maharashtra into a situation like the unrest seen in Nepal and Bangladesh.

He also addressed the Shiv Sena- Shinde group’s attempt to file a case against him. “The answer to why people took to the streets in Nepal lies in Nashik. A march was taken out in Nashik to give this warning.”
