The first accused in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case in Kerala has been granted parole under strict conditions. M.C. Anoop, a native of Chendayad at Panoor in Kannur and a convict lodged at the Kannur Central Jail, has been allowed 20 days of parole.

Other convicts in the case, Mohammed Shafi of Chokli, Shinoj of Pallur, and T.K. Rajeesh, returned to jail in recent days after the expiry of their parole periods. Anoop had driven the car used by the assailants who arrived to murder Revolutionary Marxist Party leader (RMP) leader Chandrasekharan.

Prison authorities said the parole granted to Anoop is a “routine, natural” one accorded after serving three months in jail in accordance with rules.
