The State’s two power distribution companies — Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGSPDCL) and the Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Limited (TGNPDCL) — have launched an innovative initiative with the objective of strengthening direct engagement with electricity consumers.

As part of the initiative, letters carrying New Year and Sankranti festival greetings from Deputy Chief Minister M. Bhatti Vikramarka, who holds the portfolio of Energy too, are being delivered to Gruha Jyothi scheme beneficiaries and agricultural consumers.

These personally-addressed letters, bearing the consumer’s name and service connection number, are being delivered directly to consumers at their respective residences by officials of the TGSPDCL and TGNPDCL. The letters are being sent to a total of 52,82,498 Gruha Jyothi beneficiaries and 30,03,813 agricultural power consumers.

Officials stated that the initiative will help establish direct interaction between consumers and department officials, thereby facilitating more transparent, efficient and improved service delivery in future. Several consumers expressed happiness at receiving a personalised greeting letter from the Deputy Chief Minister.
