Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran said on Sunday that the Tamil Nadu government and the police should take strict measures and curb, with an iron fist, the sale of ganja and other banned narcotic substances in the State. In a statement, he referred to the arrest of a woman from Kannagi Nagar in Chennai on the charge of selling ganja. He alleged that she was a member of the DMK and the ruling party was “promoting” the sale of ganja and other narcotic substances. Mr. Dhinakaran further said the failure of the police to effectively monitor history-sheeters had led to their involvement in more criminal activities. He urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the arrested person from Kannagi Nagar and find out whether any other persons were involved in the incident.
