District administration is gearing up to make arrangements for the smooth conduct of Mahasivaratri Brahmotsavams scheduled to start on February 8.
Collector Rajakumari Ganiya asked officials of temple, police and district officials to coordinate among themselves and ensure that the visiting devotees were not put to any inconvenience and have a hassle-free darshan. She anticipated that there might be 20% increase in devotees when compared to last year and asked officials to make arrangements accordingly.
Ms. Rajakumari wanted officials to focus on maintaining hygiene and sanitation, provision of drinking water, parking facilities, and maintenance of queue lines and speedy darshan to the devotees. She asked officials to divide the temple town into 11 zones and appoint special officers for monitoring the arrangements. She also wanted engaging sanitation staff 24X7 in the temple town.
As lakhs of devotees are likely to come on foot walking for 46 kilometres, she wanted officials to set up medical camps and ambulances to meet any emergencies and also dust bins and toilets all along the route. Further, the Collector asked officials to check the quality of water in the ponds and wells in the 46 kilometres trekking path and also in the temple town regularly. Officials were asked to set up medical camps at 10 places and arrange ambulances at seven places in the trekking path.
