BHADRADRI KOTHAGUDEM

The State government is firm in its commitment to ensure speedy completion of the Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Project (SRLIP) to provide the Godavari waters to around 6.74 lakh acres of ayacut in the combined Khammam district, said Minister for Irrigation and Civil Supplies N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

“We will relentlessly fight to secure Telangana’s rightful share of both Godavari and Krishna waters,” he said while addressing a meeting at Gandugulapally village in Dammapeta mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Friday.

He along with Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao inspected the progress of works on the SRLIP’s fourth pump house at Gandugulapally.

Mr Reddy alleged that the State suffered immensely due to the lopsided policies of the previous government which HE said ‘neglected’ the viable irrigation projects and started new projects at a ‘huge cost’.

The Congress government has laid its focus on expeditious completion of the SRLIP, he said, adding that an amount of ₹5,000 crore will be released for land acquisition in the next six months.

Earlier, the ministers participated in various programmes including a Rythu Mela in Aswaraopeta.
