INS Aravali Commissioned as Navy’s new nerve centre in Gurugram

The Indian Navy commissioned its latest Naval Base, INS Aravali, at Gurugram on Friday (September 12, 2025), marking a major boost to its information and communication infrastructure.

Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, presided over the ceremony, which included a 50-men Guard of Honour, the reading of the commissioning warrant by Captain Sachin Kumar Singh, and the unveiling of the commissioning plaque by Mrs. Shashi Tripathi, President NWWA.

Addressing the gathering, Admiral Tripathi said the new base would serve as a hub of technology and collaboration, linking platforms and partners across oceans. “INS Aravali embodies the Prime Minister’s vision of MAHASAGAR — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions — and strengthens India’s role as the Preferred Security Partner in the Indian Ocean Region,” he noted.

Named after the steadfast Aravali Range, the base will support command, control and Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) operations. Its crest, featuring mountains and a rising sun, symbolises vigilance, resilience, and the dawn of advanced technological capabilities.

Guided by the motto “Maritime Security through Collaboration,” INS Aravali is expected to play a key role in strengthening the Navy’s operational readiness and maritime security framework.
