Minister for Housing, Waqf, and Minority Welfare B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan said on Thursday that 26 families who lost their houses in the Kogilu demolition drive have so far been identified as eligible beneficiaries to receive houses.

Mr. Khan told mediapersons that Minister for Revenue Krishna Byre Gowda had informed him that during the verification process, 26 families were found eligible for government housing, as they had produced all the required documents.

He clarified that while 161 houses were demolished, not everyone would be get the housing unless they met all the criteria laid down by the State government. “To become an eligible beneficiary, families should be from Karnataka and should have been living here for five years,” he said.
