A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) double-decker tourist bus rammed a waiting shed near Devikulam on Friday.

According to officials, the incident occurred in Erachilpara, near Devikulam, on the Munnar-Bodimettu stretch of the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway on Friday. The bus was heading for Munnar from Anayirankal. When the bus reached Erachipara the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then rammed into a nearby waiting shed and an embankment before coming to a halt. The front portion of the bus was damaged.

A KSRTC official said 45 passengers were onboard the bus, and that no one was injured. “Thirty-eight tourists were on the upper deck of the bus and seven tourists in the lower deck.” The driver said that he lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid hitting another bus.
