Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presents awards to weavers and designers, launches temple projects

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presented cheques and certificates of appreciation to best designers and best weavers at the State level for 2024–25 at Secretariat in Chennai on Saturday.

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday presented cheques worth ₹23.75 lakh and certificates of appreciation to 13 persons who were selected at the State level for 2024–25 under the Best Designer and Best Weaver categories by the Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles, and Khadi Department, at the Secretariat in Chennai.

Mr. Stalin presented cheques totalling ₹20 lakh to eight awardees chosen for the Best Weaver category in silk and cotton, ₹1.50 lakh to two awardees selected for the Best Designer category, and ₹2.25 lakh to three awardees chosen for the Best Young Designer category.

Further, the Chief Minister, through video conference, laid the foundation for 18 new projects at 11 temples under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department and for an additional classroom building at a school, being built at a total cost of ₹108.9 crore. He also inaugurated 10 completed renovation works in seven temples and six divisional inspector offices, constructed at a cost of ₹15.3 crore. He also inaugurated three bus facilities for devotees at the Subramania Swamy Temple at Chennimalai in Erode district.

Minister for Handlooms and Textiles R. Gandhi, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments P.K. Sekarbabu, Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism, Culture, and Religious Endowments) K. Manivasan, and Secretary (Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi) V. Amuthavalli were among others present.
