Standing tall against all odds can lead one to great success, and President Droupadi Murmu’s life journey is all about that, says Odisha Governor Kambhampati Haribabu.

The Governor, who was in Vijayawada on Saturday to launch the book titled, ‘Agni Sarassullo Vikasinchina Kamalam – Droupadi Murmu’, penned by former Rajya Sabha member and scholar Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, said the book teaches the youth how patience and perseverance could help one achieve success.

“These days, youngsters feel discouraged when they do not achieve the desired marks or a rank, but they should look at the life of the President, who has had to cross many hurdles before reaching this position,” he said.

Mr. Haribabu recalled how Ms. Droupadi Murmu, hailing from a tribal community in Odisha, set a precedent for other youngsters in her community. “She always believed that education can bring about a change in others’ life,” Mr. Haribabu said.

The Governor, briefing about her political and personal life, said Ms. Droupadi Murmu, starting her career as a teacher, went on to become a ward councillor, then MLA, then Minister and then the President.

“Despite achievements in her political career, her personal life was anything but easy. She lost her husband, sons, mother and brother in quick succession. She has had innumerable challenges and gone through indescribable pain,” he said.

“But she weathered all the challenges and worked tirelessly for the public good,” he added.

The Governor added that the title of the book was apt, since it tells the story of an ordinary woman who achieved extraordinary heights. He said the book is a valuable addition to the Telugu literature and is an inspiring book for women and youngsters, who wish to achieve success in life.

“If courage and commitment go together, nothing becomes impossible,” he said, citing examples from the President’s life. He urged youth to remain steadfast in their hardwork and never lose confidence, adding that real stength lies in perseverance and patience.
