A 45-year-old electrician was killed in a road accident on ORR near Taramatipet in the early hours of Thursday, after the car he was travelling in rammed a vehicle.

The deceased was identified as Chinnam Venkatesham of Edullagudem village in Valigonda mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. A complaint was lodged by his wife, Chinnam Padma, 38, a farmer from the same village.

According to an officer from the Abdullapurmet police, Venkatesham was travelling with four others in a car bearing registration number TS-30-L-7273 from their village to Hyderabad for work on Wednesday night. “The group included Guniganti Naresh, Lingaswamy, Kontham Srinu and Guduru Sampath Reddy, who was driving the vehicle,” he said.

After completing their work, the group was returning home via ORR from Moinabad. At around 2.15 a.m., while passing through the Taramatipet stretch, the driver allegedly attempted to overtake an unknown vehicle and crashed into it from behind. Police said the car was driven in a rash and negligent manner.

Venkatesham, who was seated in the rear, suffered severe head injuries and died on the spot due to heavy bleeding. The remaining occupants sustained minor injuries and were shifted to a private hospital in Hayath Nagar.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
