The crackdown on policemen allegedly involved in corruption and anti-social activities continued in Bengaluru Rural district, with the suspension of a head constable attached to the Nelamangala police station.

The head constable, identified as Girijesh, has been suspended for allegedly illegally encroaching upon eight acres of government land in Machanahalli village. Following the allegations, a criminal case has been registered against him and five others at the Dabaspet police station.

Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police C.K. Baba issued the suspension order recently and has also initiated a departmental inquiry against the officer.

According to official sources, Girijesh has been suspended on charges of indiscipline and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

The police said that strict action would continue against personnel found indulging in corrupt practices or activities that tarnish the image of the department.
