A Public Prosecutor attached to the High Court of Karnataka in Kalaburagi was caught by the Lokayukta Police on the charge of accepting a bribe on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Rajamahendra, was caught red-handed while accepting ₹25,000 as part of a ₹50,000 bribe demand.

According to Lokayukta officials, the bribe was sought for extending a favour to an accused in a case registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The complainant, identified as Naveen, reportedly approached the Lokayukta after the Public Prosecutor demanded money to extend cooperation in the case.

The trap was laid near the High Court premises where Rajamahendra was caught while receiving the advance amount. He was subsequently taken into custody and subjected to interrogation.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Siddaraju and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sheelavanth.
