Bengaluru’s date with art is set for the New year as the 23rd edition of Chitra Santhe 2026 will be held at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath on January 4.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the Chitra Santhe, according to a release.

The santhe’s theme will centre around environment and over 1,500 artists from 22 States and four union territories will be participating in it.

In 2025, around 1,500 artists from 20 States displayed and sold their works at the festival, that was estimated to have witnessed a footfall of over 5 lakh.

Thematic exhibition

The release noted that the Chitrakala Parishath, in collaboration with the Vanalok Foundation, will present a nature-based Thematic Art exhibition that seeks to bring Bengaluru’s pressing environmental challenges into public focus and it is being curated with the Vanalok Foundation, a sustainability-focused organisation working at the intersection of ecology, education, and community engagement.

The release stated that the thematic exhibition will explore key issues shaping the city’s ecological present and future, including Bengaluru’s geological formation, the role of waterbodies as lifelines, forests and wildlife, human coexistence with nature, and the impacts of climate change.

“Through curated artworks, immersive installations, 3D models and interpretive displays, the exhibition aims to blend scientific insight, ecological understanding, and artistic expression to create compelling visual narratives,” the release added.

By reflecting on Bengaluru’s ecological past and present, the exhibition seeks to use art as a medium to spark awareness, encourage reflection, and foster dialogue on environmental sustainability and responsible urban futures.

Organisers said the initiative aims to bring together artists, citizens, and environmental thinkers on a shared platform, reaffirming the role of art in shaping informed and resilient cities.

The art exhibition will be open to the public from January 4 to January 12, across all four galleries of the Chitrakala Parishath.
