A police inspector of the Sadashivanagar police station has been booked allegedly for harassing his wife over dowry, physically assaulting and intimidating her and children.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim, Kavya, the north division women’s police station has registered an FIR against the accused and his relatives.

Kavya alleged that her husband Girish B.P. subjected her and their children to repeated physical abuse and dowry-related harassment.

According to the complaint, Kavya has alleged that Girish assaulted their daughter with a cricket bat and also attacked family members with a glass bottle under the influence of alcohol. She said that he had been physically abusive towards her and the children and had been harassing her for dowry since 2017.

In her complaint, Kavya stated that at the time of their marriage, around 15 years ago, her family spent approximately ₹30 lakh, including 250 gm of gold jewellery and ₹5 lakh in cash. She alleged that an additional ₹10 lakh was later given to her husband. Despite this, he continued to demand more money and subjected her to mental and physical harassment.

The complainant has alleged that her husband threatened to have her killed if further dowry was not paid. She has accused him of having an extramarital relationship.
