BRS MLA and former Minister Gangula Kamalakar urged the State government to initiate steps for establishing a ‘Telangana Bhavan’ in Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venakateswara Swamy, in the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh citing hardships faced by public representatives and devotees after the State’s bifurcation.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour in the winter session of the State Assembly on Monday, the Karimnagar MLA also pointed out that Karnataka and Tamil Nadu already have already got guest houses in Tirumala. “Telangana people’s representatives do not enjoy similar convenience,” Mr. Kamalakar said, adding that devotees face similar challenges at Sabarimala in Kerala. He added that the Kerala government had already responded positively to allot five acres of land to the Telangana government at Sabarimala following a request by the then BRS government.

Meanwhile, BRS senior MLA T. Harish Rao slammed the Congress government accusing it of betraying government employees by failing to implement the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and clear pending retirement benefits.

He urged Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to release arrears immediately. He highlighted that six Dearness Allowances (DAs) remain pending and warned that governance could collapse if employees are pushed into distress.

He also expressed concern over reports of 39 retired employees dying due to non-payment of dues.

The BRS leader alleged diversion of contributions under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and further flagged pending allowances for police personnel and demanded restoration of the government employee health insurance scheme with access to corporate hospitals.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA from Pargi T. Ram Mohan Reddy urged the State government to take steps to exempt the in-service government teachers from clearing TET exam, which was mandated by the Centre.

Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy has said that colonies near Turkayamjal lake have been flooded due to encroachments in the lake bed and urged the government to take steps to protect the lake and check the flooding.

MIM MLA Jaffar Hussain Meraj raised sanitation and garbage lifting issues in GHMC limits and sought early Assembly sessions before Ramzan starting February 18.

Alair MLA Beerla Ilaiah requested to announce Alair as a Revenue Division and also sought clarity on overseas scholarships. Several MLAs urged the government to release payments to contractors and ensure completion of hospitals, while MLA Adi Srinivas proposed setting up a 50-bed Mother and Child Care centre in Vemulawada and Nampally MLA Majeed Hussain called for an ICU at Nampally Area Hospital and an MRI facility at Niloufer Children’s Hospital.
