South Central Railway (SCR) added 199 km of track this year up to the end of November, comprising 15 km of new lines, 40 km of double lines and 144 km of third lines. During the period, it also eliminated 68 manned level crossings and constructed 22 road overbridges (RoBs) and 60 road underbridges (RuBs).

SCR recorded a gross originating revenue of ₹19,314 crore, up from ₹18,831 crore in the corresponding period last year. This included passenger revenue of ₹5,525 crore (₹5,261 crore last year) and freight loading of 136.2 million tonnes, generating freight revenue of ₹12,841 crore, compared to 128.4 million tonnes and ₹12,597 crore last year.

In a press release on Sunday, Chief Public Relations Officer A. Sridhar said the year also marked 100% electrification of the Secunderabad division, along with electrification of 17 route kilometres (RKM) on the Akanapet-Medak section and 97 RKM on the Kalaburagi-Khanapur section. In all, 184 track km were electrified — 40 km under doubling works and 144 km under third-line projects.

The commissioning of Automatic Block Signalling over 529 km across various sections and nine intermediate block signalling systems helped increase line capacity and enable the operation of more trains.

Besides, a 24-km bypass line at Wadi and another at Peddapalli were commissioned to ensure seamless train operations. Three Gati Shakti cargo terminals were also opened: Ramco Cements at Sanjamala Jagadish and Others at Yerpedu in the Guntakal division, and Deccan Cements at Janpahad in the Guntur division.
