The Government Railway Police, Ernakulam, arrested two people for allegedly stealing laptops and mobile phones from passengers. The arrested are Sumesh, 30, from Kozhikode and Roish Uddhin, 26, from Assam, the police said in a release on Sunday (December 28, 2025).

The two were arrested by a team led by sub-inspector Nisarudheen as part of the investigation into separate incidents.

Uddhin was arrested for allegedly stealing a mobile phone worth ₹50,000 from an Odisha native at the Ernakulam Town railway station on December 21. He is also accused of stealing ₹30,000 from the bank account of the complainant using the stolen phone.

Sumesh was nabbed for allegedly stealing a laptop worth ₹2 lakh and valuable documents from a Payyannur native in October. The police also found that Sumesh had stolen money and a bag from a scooter in Thrissur recently.
