The 29th India Scouts and Guides Jamborette 2025 was inaugurated at Phoenix Public School in Honaga village of the district on Saturday.

Speaker U.T. Khader, who inaugurated the event, said that Scouts and Guides institutions around the world are helping in shaping children’s personality.

“Children are the wealth of the country. It is everyone’s dream to make India the first in the world. It is only possible for India to become strong if students become responsible citizens,” he said.

“Students should know the value of time and use it properly to shape their personality. He said that your personality will take you to a higher position in the coming days. Children should become good citizens and take up high positions and participate in social service and reform activities,” he said.

“While it is the job of teachers to educate children, it is the job of Scouts and Guides to teach discipline to children,” Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti said.

He said that outdoor activities of Scouts and Guides have the potential to teach life lessons for students. He said that “children who participate in the jamborette learn lessons like everyone is equal, regardless of caste and religion.”

He said that focus on voluntary service is akin to the principle of work is worship taught by Basavanna and others reformers.

BJP MP Jagadish Shettar said that such events can help students lead a disciplined life.

Bharat Scouts and Guides is doing the work of providing physical and mental stimulation to students along with school activities, he said.

He recalled his long association with State Scouts and Guides Commissioner P.G.R. Sindhia, saying that they have worked as volunteers and student leaders in the ABVP.

Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa said that it is the responsibility of the Education Department to ensure that Scouts and Guides continue to grow to be in the forefront.

Scouts and Guides are very important for grooming good citizens for the future. He said that the department will increase its support to the institution. Such activities will be promoted in every school. That will help children pick up values and discipline, he said.

District in-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi said that it is a matter of pride that the programme is being organized in Belagavi district.

“Children should make the best use of such nation building activities. This is like a factory that teaches skills and human values. The students who participate in this training are given an opportunity to become good citizens and move forward to build a great India,” he said.

Mr. Sindhia said that the work of Scouts and Guides is spiritual and not limited to any religion. He said that the erstwhile king of Mysore Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar started Scouts and Guides within a few years of its launch in England.

“It has a glorious history of personality development that grooms empathetic citizens. Scouts and Guides are working in more than 200 countries. Social development and education are our goals,” he said.

Sri Shivasiddha Shivacharya of Muktimath, Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulbarao, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahula Shinde, DDPI Leelavati Hiremath and Scouts and Guides District Chief Commissioner Gajanana Mannikeri, district officer Rajshekar Chalageri and others were present.
