Following a letter submitted by the Municipal Officers’ and Employees’ Welfare Association to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) convened a meeting to discuss the issues raised by the authority.

Tushar Giri Nath, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development Department, and M. Maheshwar Rao, Chief Commissioner of GBA, held discussions with association president A. Amruthraj and officials of the Revenue Department.

In the letter sent to Mr. Shivakumar recently, Mr. Amruthraj alleged that Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner (Revenue), mentally harasses revenue officers and uses abusive language during the morning video conference.

The association also flagged issues related to the e-khata system.

The association pointed out to shortcomings in the e-khata software that have led to difficulties for employees. It suggested that if certain issues in the software are rectified, e-khata applications could be cleared immediately in a swift manner.

The GBA had submitted a proposal to the government seeking the suspension of Deputy Commissioner D.K. Babu and Revenue Officer Varalakshamma. The association requested that this proposal be withdrawn.

The Additional Chief Secretary assured the association that a meeting would be held with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to urgently rectify the deficiencies arising from the e-khata software.

Regarding the suspension proposal, Mr. Nath told the association that appropriate action would be initiated against the officials after subjecting them to a departmental inquiry.

On the complaints, Mr. Rao and Mr. Nath told the officials that the Special Commissioner may have used certain words to expedite the e-Aasthi process for the benefit of citizens. Both senior officials have also requested the Revenue Department officials to cooporate with the Special Commissioner in the interest of public.
