Drone surveillance and patrolling will be intensified across the district from January 1, 2026, District Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar said.
The SP on Friday (December 26) handed over five drones worth ₹24 lakh, including two night vision drones, to Puttaparthi Urban, Puttaparthi Rural, Hindupur, Madakasira, and Nallamada circle police officers. Speaking on the occasion he said, drone surveillance will be useful to effectively control crime and the offenders will also be punished as the recorded footage will act as an evidence.
He said night vision drones were already provided to Hindupur, Madakasira, Kadiri, Dharmavaram and Penugonda and these will be used for patrolling during night times starting January 1, 2026. The SP said drones would come handy in preventing crime also to keep a tab on gambling, consumption of ganja and alcohol in remote and secluded areas.
Mr. Satish Kumar urged general public as well as business persons to instal CCTVs at their premises for surveillance.
