To implement the Karnataka Menstrual Leave Policy-2025, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has issued a circular granting one day of paid menstrual leave per month to its women employees, with effect from January 1, 2026.

According to the circular issued by Akram Pasha, Managing Director of KSRTC, all women employees aged between 18 and 52 will be eligible for the benefit. The order applies across all divisions and units of the transport corporation.

The circular clearly states that no medical certificate will be required to avail of menstrual leave. However, the leave cannot be clubbed with any other category of leave in the same month. It must be taken only during the respective month and cannot be carried forward or accumulated for subsequent months.

The move follows the decision by the Karnataka government recently to introduce the Karnataka Menstrual Leave Policy-2025, making Karnataka the first State in the country to formally approve one day of paid menstrual leave per month for women employees across both government and private sectors.
