Buon Natale, jointly organised by the Thrissur Archdiocese and the Thrissur Pouravali, will be held in Thrissur city on December 27, promising a grand blend of devotion and carnival spirit.
Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Ministers of State Suresh Gopi and George Kurian, State Ministers K. Rajan, R. Bindu and Ramachandran Kadannappally, Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan, along with political leaders and social, cultural and religious heads, will attend the event.
A colourful rally will begin from St Thomas College, circle the Swaraj Round and conclude at the college premises. Around 15,000 Christmas Santas will take part in the procession, moving to a specially choreographed theme song composed this year by noted music director Jerry Amaldev.
One of the highlights of this year’s Buon Natale will be the use of artificial intelligence, with four moving AI-enabled floats, along with 15 large floats depicting the rich cultural heritage of Kerala and India. The moving floats have been designed and built by students under the supervision of teachers from Jyothi Engineering College.
Describing Buon Natale as a celebration of compassion, Thrissur Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath said that as part of the event, around 10 houses will be constructed for the poor, irrespective of caste or religion. The keys to these houses will be handed over during the peace meeting. He also announced that three dialysis missions would be handed over to the Jubilee Mission Medical College as part of the initiative.
The celebrations will be organised in all parishes under the Archdiocese, with parish-level committees implementing various welfare schemes for economically disadvantaged families, selected without discrimination.
In addition, the Buon Natale exhibition will be held at Shaktan Nagar, Thrissur, from December 24 to January 5.
