The 56th meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority was held at the Secretariat on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, during which projects worth ₹1,358 crore were sanctioned for the development of layouts in the Land Pooling Scheme LPS-8 zone. The authority also approved ₹444 crore for setting up a flood pumping station with a capacity of 8,400 cusecs, ₹109 crore as additional funds for providing facilities in the residential quarters being constructed for All India Services officers, and nearly ₹104 crore for establishing a Quantum Computing Research Centre in Amaravati.

The CRDA further decided to constitute a high-level committee to ascertain the nature of 202 acres of land given by farmers, to determine whether they are jareebu (fertile or irrigated) or metta (dry). It also allotted 23 acres at Sakhamuru village for the construction of a building for the AYUSH Ministry and six acres in Thullur for hotels and a convention centre.

Addressing the meeting, Mr. Naidu directed officials to identify suitable land for establishing a modern cultural centre in the capital region and to complete the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre within the stipulated time. He instructed that infrastructure in the LPS layouts be created without delay and that issues faced by farmers be resolved expeditiously.

Emphasising planned urban development, the Chief Minister said special focus should be laid on increasing greenery in Amaravati, particularly along the Krishna riverfront, to enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal. Parks should be developed across the capital region, he said, stressing the need for international-standard hotels to cater to visitors.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, Special Chief Secretary M.T. Krishna Babu, Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar, CRDA Commissioner K. Kanna Babu and Amaravati Development Corporation CMD D. Lakshmiparthasarathy Bhasker were among those present.
