Three interstate ganja peddlers were arrested and 1.6 kgs of ganja along with a car was seized in two separate anti-drug operations conducted by the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force, Telangana, in coordination with the Cyberabad and Ramagundam police.

In the first case, officials from the EAGLE Force’s special task team along with the KPHB police arrested a ganja peddler near a graveyard on Hindu Villas Road in KPHB, Hyderabad. The accused was identified as Karthaka Praveen Kumar, 33, a gym trainer residing in KPHB Colony and a native of West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. Police seized 400 grams of ganja and a car from his possession.

According to investigators, Praveen Kumar, an engineering graduate, began consuming ganja about four years ago and later turned to drug peddling after facing financial difficulties. Investigation revealed that he had procured the contraband from a supplier identified as Ghouse from Bidar for ₹20,000 per kilogram for his personal use. However, seeing an increased demand ahead of New Year, he decided to sell it in KPHB and surrounding areas. He was arrested while he was on his way home after purchasing the banned substance from Bidar.

In the second operation, carried out on the night of December 20, personnel of the EAGLE Force’s Regional Narcotics Control Cell (RNCC) Karimnagar unit, along with the Ramagundam police, arrested two ganja peddlers at the Ramagundam railway station. A total of 149 ganja packets weighing 1.2 kilograms were seized.

The accused were identified as Venkat Sai Manoj, 28, and Manupati Ajay, 23, both auto drivers. Police said that the duo had procured ganja from Nagpur and were transporting it for illegal sale.

All the accused, along with the seized contraband and vehicles, were handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action.
