IT major Tata Consultancy Services is likely to commence operations at its Delivery Centre from a rented facility at Rushikonda Hill No. 3 in Visakhapatnam in January 2026, with an initial workforce of 2,000 employees and an investment of ₹80 crore. The company has already installed its signboard on the Millennium Towers building. Simultaneously, TCS will lay the foundation stone for its permanent campus for its business unit in the city, according to government sources.

This is the second major development in Visakhapatnam’s expanding information technology ecosystem, following the recent commencement of operations by Cognizant from a temporary facility earlier this month.

The presence of leading IT companies such as Infosys, Cognizant and TCS is expected to encourage more technology-focused firms to consider Visakhapatnam as a viable destination. The combined presence of these companies could play a crucial role in transforming the city into a preferred destination for global firms and young professionals, said O. Naresh Kumar of the Rushikonda IT Parks Association.

The State government has allotted 2,08,280 sq ft of office space to TCS in Millennium Towers A and B at Rushikonda Hill No. 3 at a lease rate of ₹29 per sq ft per month, amounting to about ₹60.4 lakh per month, sources said.

A senior government official said the TCS project had been delayed due to the denotification of the allotted land from the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone. The land has now been denotified and the path is clear for TCS to lay the foundation stone, the official said, adding that the VSEZ is empowered to denotify land as non-SEZ with prior approval from the Centre.

On January 3, 2025, the Industries and Commerce Department announced the proposal to set up the TCS Delivery Centre in Visakhapatnam and directed the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation to allot 2.08 lakh sq ft of office space at a concessional rent under the customised incentive provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Policy 2024–29.

Subsequently, on April 21, 2025, the government allotted 21.16 acres at IT Hill No. 3 to TCS at a nominal cost of ₹0.99 per acre for its permanent campus. The company plans to invest ₹1,370 crore in the project, which is expected to generate employment for about 12,000 people.
