Fire guts plastic recycling unit at industrial area in Thalassery

A plastic collection and segregation unit operating at the industrial area in Kandikkal, Thalassery, was completely gutted in fire that broke out on Saturday (December 20, 2025) afternoon. No casualties have been reported.

The fire occurred at City Plastic, a facility employing several workers. Fire and Rescue Services units from Thalassery, Panur, Mahe, and Kuthuparamba rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control after hours of effort.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Thalassery police, residents, and volunteers joined the firefighting and rescue operations.

The Thalassery Tahsildar, disaster management officials, the village officer, and local elected representatives reached the site and coordinated relief and follow-up measures.
