Swearing-in of local body members in Kollam

The swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected members of the local self-government bodies in the district will take place on December 21. The oath-taking for the district panchayat will be held at 10 a.m. at the district panchayat hall, while the Corporation’s ceremony will commence at 11.30 a.m. at QAC Ground.

District Collector N. Devidas will administer the oath to the senior-most member in both the Corporation and the district panchayat. Subsequently, the senior member who was sworn in first will administer the oath to the remaining members.

In grama phanchayats, block panchayats, and municipalities, the respective Returning Officers will administer the oath. Following the ceremony, the first meeting of all elected members will be held under the member who took the oath first. During this meeting, the secretary will read the Election Commission’s notification regarding the upcoming elections for the posts of chairperson/president/Mayor and vice-chairperson vice-president/Deputy Mayor.
