
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended the elevation of five judges as the Chief Justices of High Courts.
The Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Thursday (December 18, 2025) recommended the elevation of five judges as the Chief Justices of High Courts.
Justice Manoj Gupta of the Allahabad High Court was proposed for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court, consequent upon the retirement of the incumbent Chief Justice on January 9, 2026.
Justice Revati P. Mohit Dere of the Bombay High Court was recommended for appointment as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court upon the transfer of the incumbent Chief Justice, Justice Soumen Sen.
The Collegium has recommended the transfer of Justice Sen as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on the retirement of the Chief Justice there on January 9.
Justice M.S. Sonak of the Bombay High Court was also recommended for elevation as the Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice on the retirement of the incumbent on January 8.
Justice A. Muhamed Mustaque of the Kerala High Court has been proposed for the Chief Justiceship of the Sikkim High Court.
Finally, Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo of the Orissa High Court was recommended as Patna High Court Chief Justice.
