A three-day celebration of fitness, discipline and camaraderie within the police force came to a colourful close on Thursday as the Cyberabad Police 8th Annual Sports, Games and Duty Meet concluded with a grand ceremony at the Cyberabad Parade Grounds in Gachibowli.

The closing ceremony was attended by Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy as chief guest and witnessed enthusiastic participation from police personnel across all zones and specialised wings. Earlier in the day, the DGP inaugurated the renovated police food canteen, branded – The Cop Café – at the Cyberabad Police office premises, marking another step towards improving welfare facilities for personnel.

On his arrival at the parade grounds, the DGP was greeted in a unique manner when a trained police dog presented him with a flower basket, drawing applause from the audience and dignitaries. He later flagged off the 100-metre races for men and women, one of the highlights of the final day. In the men’s event, Ramesh of the CSW secured first place, followed by Venkatesh and Vishnu of the CAR Headquarters. The women’s race saw Gayathri of the CAR Headquarters clinch first place, with Yamuna finishing second and Renuka of the CSW taking third.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty congratulated all participants, noting that 1,022 personnel had taken part in a wide range of competitions over the three days, including athletics, team sports and indoor games.

Several competitive events drew attention during the meet, including the badminton doubles match in which CAR Headquarters DCP Sanjeev and SOT DCP Shoban Kumar emerged winners against a team comprising Rajendranagar DCP Yogesh Gautam and Madhapur DCP Ritiraj. The prizes were presented by the DGP.

Senior officers, including joint commissioners, deputy commissioners from various zones and wings, and personnel of all ranks, attended the ceremony.
