Special elections to three local body wards in the State, including Vizhinjam in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, will be held on January 12.

The local body polls to the three wards had been postponed following the deaths of candidates.

The State Election Commission (SEC) has issued the election notification. Polling will be held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on January 12. The votes will be counted on January 13.

Apart from Vizhinjam, the Payimbadam ward of the Moothedam grama panchayat in Malappuram district, and the Onakkoor ward in the Pambakkuda grama panchayat in Ernakulam district will see elections on January 12.

Candidates can file their nomination papers till December 24. The scrutiny of the papers will be held on December 26. December 29 is the deadline for withdrawing the nominations. Individuals who were candidates of the December 9 and 11 elections in the wards need not file nominations afresh.
