Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss on Wednesday (December 17, 2025) said that the party’s administrative committee had authorised him to decide on the matter of alliance for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters at his Thailapuram residence near Tindivanam, Mr. Ramadoss hoped that the executive committee and the general council, the supreme body of the PMK, scheduled to be convened in Salem on December 28, would give him full rights to decide on the alliance.

Reiterating that his estranged son Anbumani Ramadoss had nothing to do with the party, Mr. Ramadoss said that the Delhi High Court and the Election Commission of India (ECI) had clearly stated that Mr. Anbumani was not the president of the PMK, and that the ‘Mango’ symbol was not allotted to him.

Mr. Ramadoss said that Mr. Anbumani was removed from the party several months ago, and that complaints were filed with the police. However, Mr. Anbumani and his supporters continued to engage in spreading falsehood and misusing the party’s name; they were collecting nomination forms from people to contest the Assembly elections and have even “deceived the ECI” by furnishing false information, Mr. Ramadoss alleged.

The PMK founder said that Mr. Anbumani continued to employ unscrupulous methods by holding meetings and engaging in activities never witnessed before in the State. He added that he was pained by this, and that Mr. Ambumani should refrain from using the party name and flag and “put an end to all this.”
