Privatisation of medical colleges is against the principles of the Constitution, says YSRCP MLC Kumbha Ravibabu

Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) MLC and observer of the party for Srikakulam district Kumbha Ravibabu on Sunday (December 14, 2025) said that privatisation of government medical colleges constructed during Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure is against to the principles of the Indian Constitution which strongly advocates free education and health for all citizens of India.

Speaking to The Hindu, he said that one crore signature campaign taken up across the State over the proposed privatisation of the medical colleges had caught the attention of the people and leaders, cutting across the party lines. He said that the private management would not allow even meritorious students at nominal fees, if all those 18 colleges were handed over to private organisations.

“The government needs only around ₹5,000 crore for the completion of the construction of a few medical colleges. Lack of funds is only a pretext to privatise the medical colleges constructed with a lot of effort by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government,” said Mr. Ravibabu.
