G. Vinod, 54, Special Correspondent at the Thiruvananthapuram bureau of Malayala Manorama daily, passed away on Saturday. He was under treatment at a private hospital here.
Mr. Vinod is survived by his wife Sindhu Suryakumar (executive editor, Asianet News) and son Ishan.
He has won awards instituted by the State government, the Kerala Press Academy, the Mumbai Press Club and the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club for best news reports and investigative reports. Mr. Vinod started his career as a journalist in the Rashtradeepika and moved to the Thiruvananthapuram unit of the Malayala Manorama in 2002.
