In preparation for the historic Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, scheduled to be held in January next, the government has launched extensive permanent infrastructure works to accommodate the massive influx of devotees.

Warangal district in-charge minister and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that all works would be completed before the commencement of the festival.

The minister, along with Tribal Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) and Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary K.S. Srinivasa Raju, inspected the ongoing developmental work at the temple in Mulugu district on Friday.

The review covered restoration of temple platforms, construction of stone structures, laying of new flooring, installation of stone pillars, and works at the Jampanna Vagu.

Mr. Ponguleti instructed officials and contractors to maintain high-quality standards and speed up execution to ensure timely completion. The ministers also performed puja at the Sammakka-Saralamma Gaddelu (Thrones) before reviewing the works.

He said the development plan, aligned with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s vision, aims to create facilities that can serve devotees efficiently for the next 100 years. “Nearly one crore devotees, both tribal and non-tribal, are expected to attend the jatara. Our focus is to ensure that none of them faces any inconvenience,” he said, adding that large-scale arrangements are being made within a 50-km radius of Medaram.

Officials said the Medaram temple area is being transformed into a grand spiritual and cultural hub ahead of the world-renowned tribal festival.
