Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasad informed Parliament on Tuesday that India has 4,597 industrial parks, with Andhra Pradesh topping the list with 638. He gave the figures in reply to a question by Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar in the Lok Sabha on the State-wise distribution of industrial parks.

The Minister said Maharashtra stands second with 527 parks, followed by Rajasthan with 460. He added that parks across various sectors are being set up in accordance with State policies, while the Centre is extending support through the Department for Promotion of Industries and Internal Trade and other ministries to boost industrial growth.

Mr. Prasad said Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Parks are under development in seven States, including one at Warangal in Telangana. Mr. Mahesh Kumar urged the Centre to extend more support for food processing units and for the development of industrial parks in Andhra Pradesh, especially in the Eluru district.
