Rajasthan High Court receives fourth bomb threat; premises evacuated

The premises of Jaipur Bench of the Rajasthan High Court were evacuated on Tuesday (December 9, 2025) after a bomb threat was received for the second consecutive day. The High Court’s Registrar (Chief Protocol Cell) received an email threatening a bomb blast in the court, following which the police were informed.

The High Court’s principal seat is situated in Jodhpur, while the Bench functions at the court building at Bhagwant Das Marg in Jaipur. This was the fourth bomb threat sent to the High Court in the last 40 days. The earlier threats were received through emails on October 31 and December 5 and 8.

Following the alert, the bomb disposal squad, quick response team and dog squad from the Jaipur Police Commissionerate reached the court. The court premises were completely evacuated, and an intensive search operation was carried out in the courtrooms, corridors, lawyers’ chambers, parking area and the administrative section.

The hearing of cases in all courtrooms was suspended and the judges, lawyers and litigants were shifted out of the building. “Such repeated threats disrupt judicial proceedings and delay hearings, which affects the disposal of cases. It adversely affects the efficiency of our judicial system which is already stretched,” lawyer Javed Chaudhary said.

All the threats received earlier had turned out to be a hoax. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Manish Agarwal, who led the search operation, said the threats were sent to “create panic”, but no suspicious object was found on the court premises.

Mr. Agarwal said while efforts were underway with technical inputs to trace those who had sent the emails, the security arrangement on the court premises would be strengthened with intensive checking, entry inspections and a better surveillance system.
