The Gurmitkal police arrested a man for allegedly opening fire in the air with a Single Barrel Breech Loading (SBBL) gun without having a licence, at Siddapur village in Gurmitkal taluk.

The accused has been identified as Chandrasekhar Mallanna Mutya from Mundagari village in Yadgir taluk. He was arrested after a video in which he was seen opening fire in the air during a wedding ceremony in the village went viral on social media.

According to the police, Chandrasekhar, a history-sheeter who have cases in the Yadgir Rural police station, opened fire with an SBBL gun during a wedding procession in Siddapur village on December 5, creating fear among the public.

The police visited the village and conducted a preliminary enquiry before arresting the accused.
