Coconut farmers protest steep fall in prices, seek ₹20,000 for 1,000 coconuts

Coconut farmers at Vijayarai in Pedavegi mandal staged a protest demanding a fair price, saying the rate has dropped from ₹26,000 to ₹14,000 to ₹15,000 per 1,000 coconuts.

State convener K. Srinivas of the Andhra Pradesh Coconut Farmers’ Association said traders are slashing prices by citing inflows from Karnataka and Kerala and described the trend as market manipulation. The farmers are urging the government to fix the price at ₹20,000 per 1,000 coconuts and warned of statewide protests if their demand is ignored. Munnangi Subbareddy, Bollu Ramakrishna, Koneru Satish Babu, Gudibandi Veerareddy, Konda Vijay Prasad, Alapati Vasu and others were present.
