Police officers, doctors and educationalists on Sunday appealed to the youth not to consume ganja, drugs and tobacco products which spoil lives.

Participating in the cycle rally titled ‘Gudivada Cyclothon 2025’, jointly organised by Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE), Indian Medical Association (IMA), Gudivada NTR Stadium and the Cycle Club here on Sunday, the EAGLE Head and Inspector General of Police (IGP) asked the students to focus on education.

Gudivada MLA Venigandla Ramu, Krishna District Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Vidya Sagar Naidu, EAGLE SP K.M. Maheswar Raju and other officers released posters on ‘Drug Free Society’ and ‘Say No to Drugs’ and flagged off the cyclothon in Krishna district.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA appealed to the public to alert EAGLE and the police by dialling 1972 or 8977781972 on WhatsApp if they notice sale or consumption of ganja or drugs in their locality.

“EAGLE is conducting Operation Safe Zone, Operation Trains and special drives to check cultivation of ganja, peddling and consumption of drugs and other sedatives. We are doing surprise raids on medical shops too to prevent unauthorised sale of some drugs,” Mr. Ravi Krishna explained.

Mr. Vidya Sagar Naidu asked the students and the youth to practice yoga and meditation for maintaining good health. The SP appealed to the students to help the police in curbing drugs and ganja.

Meanwhile, Mr. Maheswar Raju explained how some students pursuing engineering, and other professional courses landed in Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram and other jails for peddling ganja, and cautioned students to stay away from vices.

IMA president Dr. Maganti Srinivas, Dr. Potluri Vamshi, Gudivada NTR Stadium vice-chairman Yelaparthi Srinivas Rao, joint secretary Kilarapu Ranga Prasad, representatives of various NGOs and officers participated.
