The Madanayakanahalli police have arrested a 28-year-old woman and her 20-year-old male friend for allegedly murdering her husband and attempting to cover it up by burning the body.

The accused have been identified as Sharanamma and Veerabhadra, both of whom were engaged in construction work. The deceased has been identified as Suresh, 30, who had been married to Sharanamma for four years.

Suresh’s body was found half-burnt near Madanayakanahalli on November 20. Although there were no clues at the spot and even the identity of the body initially remained unknown, CCTV footage from a nearby location showed a car moving in the direction of the crime scene. After examining about 350 CCTV recordings, the police established that the car had started from Suresh’s own house.

Adding to the suspicion, Sharanamma had filed a missing complaint at Byadarahalli on November 21, a day after the body was discovered. Suspecting her role, the police detained Sharanamma and questioned her, which revealed the truth.

According to police sources, Sharanamma was in an extramarital affair with Veerabhadra. Sharanamma allegedly hatched a plan with Veerabhadra to eliminate her husband and executed it to near perfection. On November 19, when Suresh was asleep, both the accused assaulted him and later took him to Madanayakanahalli, where they allegedly set him on fire. Now, the police are searching for other people who helped the accused.
