Karnataka Minor Irrigation Minister N.S. Bose Raju met Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu here on Friday.

The two Ministers discussed various inter-State river water issues, including Karnataka’s proposal to construct a reservoir-cum-barrage across the Tungabhadra on its border with Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district.

They also deliberated on installing new gates for the Tungabhadra dam, necessitated by the washing away of one of the crest gates due to a technical glitch triggered by heavy inflows in August 2024.

Mr. Rama Naidu said the Andhra Pradesh government had earmarked ₹54 crore in the Budget for the erection of the gates, and that ₹20 crore had already been released, according to an official statement.
