Protests held against ‘anti-worker’ Labour Codes

The Joint Action Council of Trade Unions and service organisations held protests across the district demanding the withdrawal of the Centre’s “anti-worker” Labour Codes. Workers protested by burning copies of the Labour Codes at various places in the district.

CITU all India secretary K. Chandran Pillai inaugurated a protest meeting held at the Ernakulam Boat Jetty. Trade union leaders K.N. Gopinath, John Fernandes, Ali Akbar, K.V. Manoj, and Tommy Mathew led the protests.

The Joint Action Council of Trade Unions of the Kerala State Electricity Board staged a protest at the power house.

The district committee of the Kerala Water Authority Employees Union (CITU) held a protest, while members of the Bank Employees Federation of India wore black badges. Employees of the Reserve Bank of India, NABARD, Grameen Bank, and Agricultural Development Bank also participated in the protest.

The protest in Angamaly town was inaugurated by C.K. Salimkumar. M.S. George inaugurated the protest in Kothamangalam town. K.N. Gopinath inaugurated the protest in front of Apollo Tyres, Kalamassery.
