Veteran Gobichettipalayam MLA K.A. Sengottaiyan, who was expelled from the AIADMK recently, on Tuesday declined to directly respond to a query as to whether he was likely to join actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

Amid speculation that he would be resigning as legislator on Wednesday and switch over to the TVK a day later, Mr Sengottaiyan did not confirm or deny the possibility of such a course of action.

When journalists asked him about this at the Coimbatore airport, he referred to his expulsion from the AIADMK primary membership despite his 50-year political career during which he had witnessed several ups and downs. “The reward I have been given is that I should not even be a member of this movement (AIADMK). It is well known that this has caused me deep anguish. I have no further comments on this,” he said.
