Teams of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) conducted raids on hotels and restaurants in Vijayawada and destroyed stake and adulterated food items.

The teams led by Assistant Food Controller B. Srinivas raided more than 50 hotels, eateries and other establishments on Tuesday. “We destroyed nearly 70 dishes in which colours and some harmful ingredients were used. Warning has been issued against use of some oils and colours,” Mr. Srinivas told The Hindu.

FSSAI will continue the drive and cases will be booked if stale and harmful food items are sold, Mr. Srinivas warned.
