Congress alleges deletion of voters’ names during SIR in Rajasthan

The Opposition Congress in Rajasthan on Monday (November 24, 2025) alleged that names of a large number of voters were being deleted in all Assembly constituencies during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

This was being done in the areas with a considerable support for Congress, according to the party.

Pradesh Congress Committee president Govind Singh Dotasra said the voters with Congress ideology were being removed from electoral rolls on the pretext of their absence, shifting of death. “In each Assembly segment, the names of 20,000 to 25,000 voters are being deleted,” he said.

Talking to journalists at PCC headquarters in Raipur, Mr. Dotasra said the login identities of Block Level Officers (BLO) were being used at multiple locations for “arbitrary deletions and additions”.

“We are gathering complete information about the misuse of absentee, shifted and dead (ASD) marking. The Congress will shortly reveal the details and expose this conspiracy.” Mr. Dotasra said.

The State Congress chief said the ASD marking was very low in the areas where the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) believes it has a strong vote bank. The data would be available by the next month to make a comparison between the final voters’ lists and the previous ones used in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Mr. Dotasra said.

A meeting of the PCC executive and all District Congress Committee presidents has been convened in Jaipur on November 29 for carrying out a review of the SIR exercise. Mr. Dotasra said AICC Rajasthan in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa would assign new tasks to the DCC presidents and the party would deliberate on the strategy to monitor the Election Commission’s actions.

Asked about the appointments of the party’s district unit chiefs, Mr. Dotasra said an adequate representation was being given to the leaders under 50 years of age as well as those belonging to SC, ST, OBC and minority communities. “We are complying with the Udaipur Nav Sankalp Declaration of 2022. The entire team for 50 districts in the State will be ready by December-end,” he said.
